ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — One person has been arrested after last month's boat crash on Canandaigua Lake.

On July 12, 2025, police were told that a boat had collided with the shoreline of Canandaigua Lake, ejecting the driver onto the shore. The driver was taken to F.F. Thompson Hospital and then flown to Strong Memorial Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

It was alleged that Benjamin Cramer operated the boat while he was on drugs. The Yates County Sheriff's Office arrested Cramer on Thursday and charged him with Operate Vessel Impaired by Drugs, Reckless Operation of a Vessel, Speed Greater than 5 MPH within 100 Feet of Shore, No Visual Distress Signal, and Engine Cut-Off Lanyard Not Used.

Cramer was released on tickets and must return to Middlesex Court at a later date.
