After being inducted into the Virginia Peninsula Road Racing Hall of Fame in January, Williamsburg’s 61-year-old Connie Glueck could have sat back in her rocking chair and reminisced about her long athletic career in road racing, martial arts and triathlons. Instead she has run countless Colonial Road Runners and Peninsula Track Club races this year, breaking 60-64 age group records in most of them.

She also won the overall title at the PTC’s 3-race Trailzilla Series this summer, and this month completed her first Ironman Triathlon since 2019. The Ironman includes a 2.4-mile swim, followed by a 112-mile bike, and a 26.2-mile marathon run, an accomplishment for an athlete of any age, let alone a sexagenarian.
