WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) - The FBI searched the home of Ambassador John Bolton Friday with sources saying the raid is connected to an ongoing criminal investigation.
Bolton was national security advisor during the first Trump presidency but has now become a frequent critic of President Trump.
A person familiar with the matter says the investigation is connected to the handling of classified documents.
Bolton was not detained and has not been charged with any crimes, said a source who was not authorized to discuss the investigation and spoke to the Associated Press on the condition of anonymity.
His office in downtown Washington was also searched.
Bolton served as U.N. ambassador under President George W. Bush then as national security advisor during President Donald Trump’s first term.
