A Georgia man is facing charges in Auburn for identity theft and theft of property.
Auburn police say they received a report involving a forged check on December 5, 2024. The victim reported that the check was posted for mail at a location in Auburn. The check was then stolen, altered and deposited into a bank account associated with an unknown suspect.
After further investigation, 30-year-old Demtreus Davis, of Conley, was taken into custody by the Georgia State Patrol.
Davis was taken to the Henry County Jail in Georgia, and after waiving extradition, transported to the Auburn Police Department on August 20.
Davis is currently in the Lee County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
