MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -- An incumbent, a former city employee and a realtor officially entered the race for Myrtle Beach mayor on Friday, the first day candidates could file to run in the November general election.
Mayor Brenda Bethune, retired city public information officer Mark Kruea and realtor Eva Rigney officially kicked off their campaigns by filing candidacy papers at Myrtle Beach City Hall. The filing period ends at noon 12 p.m. on Sept. 5.
City voters will go to the polls on Nov. 4 to elect a new mayor and three city council members. The election is non-partisan and at-large, with the winners serving four-year terms.
Bethune is a city native seeking her third term in office. She is also the city's first female mayor.
