Project Safe is celebrating the grand opening of a new thrift store in Danielsville. Proceeds will support the Athens nonprofit, which works to eliminate domestic violence. Executive director Joan Prittie says the facility is already receiving strong support from the community.

“We had a donation day on August 2 nd , just inviting folks to come on that Saturday to bring donations to the store,” Prittie said. “And I knew when I saw that the social media post had been shared 81 times, that we were going to have a good turnout and people sure did. What I didn’t expect were just the wonderful stories that people had to share. We had a number of former clients who came and said that we had helped them in the past.”

The new store will start accepting donations beginning Friday, August 29 th
