MODOC COUNTY, Calif. -- The California Highway Patrol Northern Division told Action News Now that on Thursday a man was arrested in the Alturas area after being discovered driving a 25' Penske box van loaded with 194 large moving boxes and two landscape trash bags full of unprocessed marijuana.

A CHP commercial officer stopped the van in what was called "an investigatory stop" and discovered the marijuana, which weighed in at 3,650 pounds of unprocessed cannabis.

The marijuana was confiscated and the driver was arrested for felony transportation across state lines and possession for sales.

The CHP is not releasing the name of the man who was arrested because it is part of an ongoing investigation.
