CHICAGO (WGN) — Thousands of athletes are heading downtown this weekend to take on a host of events in the Chicago Triathlon.

Organizers say they expect more than 5,000 athletes to compete in this year's events.

Five stand-alone triathlons are set to unfold over the weekend: the International, Sprint, Super Sprint, Kids Tri Senior division, and Kids Tri Junior division.

But this weekend's races are not just reserved for adult athletes. On Saturday, youth and senior athletes will get the chance to compete in events kicking off on Saturday morning at Grant Park.

Races will be taking place all weekend in and around downtown and the events are not just reserved for adult athletes.
