The Chandler Police Department is operating an enhanced speeding enforcement effort through August.
The detail, which began Aug. 18, will operate throughout the city using funds from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.
It will focus on areas where speed-related collisions and traffic complaints are most prevalent, according to a release. Officers will be on the lookout for drivers who exceed posted speed limits, engage in aggressive driving behavior, speed through school zones or drive while distracted.
“Speeding continues to be a leading factor in serious injury and fatal crashes,” Sgt. Jason Alnas said.
“Our goal is to reduce dangerous driving behaviors through education and enforcement, ultimately saving lives.”
