As President Donald Trump signals he may sign an executive order banning mail-in voting, Missouri Secretary of State Denny Hoskins told Missourinet that the move would have little impact on the state.

Missouri does not automatically send ballots to all registered voters. However, Hoskins said absentee voting by mail is allowed with a valid excuse.

“If you want to vote by mail here in Missouri, you would have to have a valid excuse that you’ll be out of the county on that day,” said Hoskins. “Then the local election authority, the county clerk, would mail you an absentee ballot. You would fill out that ballot. It would have to be notarized by a notary, and then either you or next of kin would have to submit that back to the election authority. You can do that by mail.”
