(Jefferson City, MO) – A judge in central Missouri’s Cole County has rejected a request to block state funding for K-12 private schooling scholarships.
The Missouri National Education Association asked for the order to block funding while the case plays out in court, but Cole County Circuit Court Judge Brian Stumpe denied the request Monday.
Missouri NEA is suing over the way in which the state wants to send $51 million in taxpayer money to help K-12 public school students go to private school. It argues that Gov. Mike Kehoe’s and the state legislature’s pursuit to deliver state general revenue directly to the MO Scholars program is unconstitutional.
