A Ventnor police officer allegedly recorded a woman performing a sexual act in a holding cell last month and shared the videos with others on social media, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.

Ryan M. Bonanni, 24, of Egg Harbor Township, was charged with official misconduct, computer theft and invasion of privacy.

He was released on a summons and is due in court at 10 a.m. Sept. 24 for a first appearance, court documents show.

Police Chief Joseph Wootton said Bonanni, who was hired in October 2023, was placed on administrative leave when the allegations first came to light.

Bonanni is now suspended from his $57,942-a-year job pending the outcome of his case, Wootton said.
