A federal judge in Portland has ruled against temporarily restoring Medicaid funding for a network of Maine health clinics whose funding was cut by the Trump administration as part of an effort to stop taxpayer dollars from flowing to abortion providers.

The 19-page written decision Monday by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Lance Walker comes as Maine Family Planning has warned it will likely have to end primary care services if it cannot access federal Medicaid reimbursements.

It also stands in contrast to a Massachusetts court’s order late last month allowing Planned Parenthood clinics to continue billing Medicaid while a similar lawsuit against the Trump administration plays out there.
