The Oregon State Fair opened its doors Friday for its 160th year, welcoming thousands of fairgoers to 11 days of cute barnyard animals, fun games, art, sky-high rides and good food.
People flooded the fairgrounds late Friday morning to avoid the hottest afternoon sun, with temperatures soaring into the triple digits that day.
Between the attractions and entertainment, fairgoers cooled off with ice cream, snow cones and fresh lemonade. Others sought relief indoors, under shaded trees or in the spray of outdoor sprinklers.
The fair will run until Sept. 1. Read more about what to expect in our preview here .
