PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation’s Adopt a Highway program has three opportunities, including National CleanUp Day in September, for individuals and groups to help make state roads look their best.
It all begins with National CleanUp Day on Saturday, Sept. 20, when state transportation officials will provide one-day permits to clean up designated highway stretches.
ADOT also encourages those interested to take part in Adopt a Highway cleanups, welcoming one-day participation on Groundhog Day, Monday, Feb. 2, and Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22.
Volunteers must be at least 12 years old, and those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, according to an ADOT release, which added that, for students, the volunteer opportunities can be a chance to earn require
