King County Executive Shannon Braddock has issues a proclamation of emergency following the closure of the White River Bridge between Enumclaw and Buckley.
On Aug. 18, a large vehicle hit the tops and the sides of the structure. This caused the Washington State Department of Transportation to immediately close the bridge, turning what was a ten-minute crossing over a 572-foot bridge into an hour-long commute.
WSDOT has announced that all seven panels on the bridge were damaged on the top and sides, but not how long the bridge may be closed for or how long repairs may take. That said, the Aug. 23 proclamation of emergency notes estimates are “weeks to months at a minimum.”
The emergency proclamation allows King County to forego the usual public advertising and competitive procurement req
