LAUREL, Md. (DC News Now) -- A Maryland couple died in their Largo home in Prince George’s County last Thursday after being exposed to carbon monoxide. A third relative was still in the hospital being treated days later.
Earl Monkou is the son of both victims who died. His father was 82-year-old Alden Monkou, and his mother was 70-year-old Helianthe. He says his parents were the most loving and caring spiritual people who touched the lives of so many people.
“They were the best and kindest, caring and loving, and one of the things they instilled in us was to put God first in everything. This was a loss we didn’t expect, and I am hurting as my family is hurting because we still needed them,” Earl Monkou said.
Last Thursday, on Aug. 21, police and paramedics responded to the family’s home
