SACRAMENTO, Calif. — 43-year-old Los Angeles man Javier Aguilera Rosas pleaded guilty to charges involving the transfer of false identity documents and misuse of a Social Security number, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Rosas was involved in transferring at least 20 fake IDs to buyers in the Eastern District of California from August 2020 to December 2023. Buyers placed orders through text messages for fake passports, driver's licenses and Social Security cards. Rosas then mailed these fake IDs, which included the personal information of identity theft victims, to the buyers.
One buyer reportedly used the take IDs to sell marijuana out of state, rent short-term housing, and travel, including passing through TSA checkpoints.
