Here in north Georgia, we can grow a multitude of fruit trees. During the summer and fall, they offer healthy and tasty treats that are versatile and useful in many recipes. Some people enjoyed branches hanging down with apples, pears, peaches, and so on, while others questioned, “Why didn’t my plant produce?”

Trees that do not produce fruit are disappointing. Why have a fruit tree that doesn’t have fruit? You might as well cut it down. Often, no easy answers exist to the cause, but here are some possibilities:

Did the plant bloom? If it does not, it cannot fruit. Science is unable to explain why some plants bloom and others do not bloom adequately.

How old are the trees? Apple trees typically require two to five years from planting to bear fruit, while peaches usually bear fruit in two
