EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — As fall approaches, the YWCA of Evansville is asking for the community’s help to restock its clothing bank with essential items for women and children in need.

The organization, which offers housing, mentoring and case management to survivors of domestic violence and unhoused women and children, says its shelves are running low. With shelter space currently at capacity, the need for comfortable, everyday clothing has grown significantly.

“Our shelter provides housing for survivors of domestic violence as well as unhoused women and children—often coming straight from the streets without basic necessities like clothing or personal care items,” said Erika Taylor, CEO of the YWCA. “It’s really important that we’re able to provide those items the moment they arrive.”
