CALEXICO - As San Diego State University- Imperial Valley kicks off a new year, Dean Dr. Guillermina Nunez-Mchiri has a clear message for students- engagement is key.
"It's really important for our students to get involved, to get to know their faculty, to visit with their faculty during office hours, or to set up appointments," she said. In the Imperial Valley, where many students commute and work, she emphasized that simply taking a class and leaving limits opportunities to connect. Instead she encouraged students to arrive a little earlier, stay after class, and participate in the conversations that often spark mentorships, research opportunities, and academic growth.
