Police early Tuesday said they were looking for a driver who fatally struck a woman on a Bronx street and left the scene overnight.
NYPD officials said the incident happened just after midnight near the intersection of Leggett Avenue and Bruckner Boulevard in Longwood. Officers found a 32-year-old woman in the street with severe injuries, officials said.
First responders took the woman to Lincoln Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Officials said they were still investigating whether she was walking or riding a bike when she was hit. They did not publicly identify her as they worked to notify her family.
Police made no immediate arrests and did not yet have a description of the vehicle.
