At one point, the Mets trailed the Phillies 3-0, but then the offense erupted, scoring 13 runs in the fourth through eighth innings to cruise to a 13-3 victory. Luis Torrens provided the big blow with a three-run homer and matched his career high with five runs batted in, while the bullpen pitched five scoreless innings after Kodai Senga went four-plus and allowed three runs. There was a brief delay when the Phillies complained about a parabolic microphone in center that was distracting their hitters.

Prior to the game, the team placed Reed Garrett on the IL and called up José Castillo to take his place. The club also transferred Frankie Montas to the 60-day IL.
