FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Forsyth County High School students staged a walkout Monday morning in response to the district’s next steps towards balancing the 2025-2026 budget and preventing a future deficit, which includes teacher job cuts.

In late July, the school board voted to ask state legislators for financial help and sent a letter to N.C. State Rep. Donny Lambeth (R-Forsyth), who said the district must "figure it out themselves."

In a video taken at West Forsyth High School in Clemmons, a large group of students was observed holding signs that read, "It's time to use our voices," "Save our educators," and "Save our teachers."
