SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The City of San Angelo is urging citizens to exercise caution after receiving reports of scammers sending fraudulent invoices while impersonating its Permit Office.
The City reported on the morning of Aug. 26 that scammers posing as its Permits Office are targeting residents with fraudulent invoices that "instruct recipients to send wire transfers to process a permit application."
"Customers should know that the City of San Angelo will never request payment through wire transfer," the City said.
In response to the fake invoices, the City is urging citizens to be cautious when faced with "any unexpected invoice or payment request." Those with questions regarding a City permit bill are asked to call the Permit Office at (325)-657-4210 to confir
