Grass Valley, Calif. — Nevada County residents can swap out used motor oil filters for new ones during the county’s Oil Filter Exchange event Saturday, Sept. 20.

“This will be our third event this year,” Julie Miller said of Nevada County Solid Waste. “The events have proven to be popular and it helps residents save a few bucks.”

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at O’Reilly Auto Parts, 742 Freeman Lane, next to Raley’s. Residents who bring in a used oil filter will receive a $15 voucher toward the purchase of a new filter. Exchanges and purchases must be completed during the same visit.

Each resident may recycle up to two used filters, while supplies last. A limited number of free oil change kits — including a funnel, oil pan and jug — will also be available, one per household.
