Qamaria Yemeni Coffee Co. is one of the latest businesses to join the University City neighborhood in Charlotte.

I’ve mentioned before that I’m a coffee lover, so when I saw the sign for Qamaria get put up around a year ago, I eagerly anticipated its opening.

Just like I did with Vavela in February, I took a day to work remotely from a new cafe and enjoy a coffee.

The experience

I visited Qamaria on a cloudy morning late in August. The wind and gray clouds helped with the ambiance (cloudy days help me focus). Since I visited on the restaurant’s soft opening day, the crowd was a little sparse —but the shop got more crowded throughout the day.

Qamaria’s open floor plan is perfect for people watching as other customers stopped in. Some seemed to be grabbing a coffee on their way to work,
