MOUNT HOLLY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A shooting in a Mount Holly neighborhood over the weekend left one man dead and a woman seriously injured, authorities confirmed.

Around 1:21 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, Mount Holly Police officers responded to a call about a shooting along Tomberlin Road. When officers arrived, they found a woman at a neighboring home with a gunshot wound to her face.

According to residents, she had come to their door for help after being shot next door.

Despite her serious injuries, Mount Holly Police said the woman was conscious and breathing when officers arrived. She was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
