CHICAGO, Ili. (WFIE) - Major League Baseball player Colson Montgomery hit his first career grand slam on a very ceremonious day.

MLB officials say Montgomery hit a grand slam to right-center field, giving the White Sox a 6-2 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning.

Officials say the former Southridge baseball star has 12 home runs over 31 games played for the White Sox since the All-Star break.

This comes on the anniversary of his grandfather’s death.

Montgomery even has a tattoo that honors his grandfather, Darrell Powell, who was his number one fan.
