PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- Bus shortages have impacted schools across the U.S., and Prince George's County was no exception.
The school division has reported that out of the nearly 1,020 available positions, only about 874 were filled, according to their website. This means a little more than 145 positions are still vacant as students head back into the classrooms.
Routes impacted by the shortage are expected to combine with other runs as the school division works to hire more bus drivers, potentially leading to more delays.
Other positions, including teachers, are seeing vacancies, with bus drivers seeing the highest percentage of unfilled positions at more than 14%.
