Dozens of local kids participated in this year’s Race4Chase Youth Triathlon Program.

The 2025 Race4Chase final triathlon was held at Fort Adam State Park in Newport earlier this month. Athletes from nine YMCA branches from Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut participated in the race.

Bayside Family YMCA swept the top spots in all three age groups — ages 5-8, ages 9 and 10, and ages 11-13.

Jett Talbert was tops in the 5-8 division, while Tommy Elliot won the 9-10 division, and Abby Rotondo finished first in the 11-13 division.

More than 230 athletes competed in the finals.

The Race4Chase Youth Triathlon Program was created in memory of Chase Kowalski, a young boy from Sandy Hook, Conn., who loved sports and won his first triathlon at the age of 6.
