With the new school year almost here, City Councilmember Nantasha Williams held her fourth annual back-to-school block party and backpack giveaway in Queens on Saturday.
The event, which took place outside her district office on Linden Boulevard, featured food and games. Each child went home with school supplies for the year ahead.
"I feel like the community appreciated [it]," Williams said. "We had over 750 bags, and we have just a small amount of bags left. So I'd say we had over 600 people come and get supplies and food and just have a good time."
State Sen. Leroy Comrie said it was "a great day in the neighborhood."
"We have a lot of young people who are enjoying themselves," Comrie said. "Parents don't have to travel to Manhattan to get these resources. And I'm glad that Councilme
