A $180,000 grant has been awarded to a lumber company to build a plant near the Tallapoosa County-Coosa County line.
Gov. Kay Ivey has announced the grant, from the Appalachian Regional Commission, which is a federal-state partnership program.
The $115 million sawmill will be built on a 110-acre site at the Lake Martin Regional Industrial Park, off of U.S. Highway 280 near Kellyton. It is expected to create 130 jobs.
The grant will help Alexander City provide infrastructure needed for the sawmill.
The grant will be combined with a $180,000 Community Development Block Grant awarded earlier this year by Gov. Ivey.
