PITTSBURGH (WKBN) -- The Pittsburgh Pirates designated veteran pitcher Andrew Heaney for assignment on Tuesday.

In a corresponding roster move, the team activated centerfielder Oneil Cruz from the 7-day concussion list.

The Piratesa also recalled pitcher Dauri Moreta from Triple-A Indianapolis and optioned infielder Ronny Simon to Triple-A.

Heaney has appeared in 26 games with 23 starts for the Pirates this season. He posted a record of 5-10 with a 5.39 ERA. In 120.1 innings, he has piled up 84 strikeouts.
