Newton city officials will return to the Nonantum neighborhood on Wednesday to remove a beloved marker of Italian heritage from Adams Street for the second time.

The green, white and red center line paint markings were a long-time feature of Adams Street, where the colors of the Italian flag have long marked the route of the St. Mary of Carmen Festival—known as Festa. Latest Forecast

Before the event earlier this summer, the city removed the tri-color lines and replaced them with standard double yellow markings. At the time, Mayor Ruthanne Fuller said the decision to repaint the lines was made over many months based on traffic concerns and safety regulations.
