Police seek driver of vehicle that struck child

New Castle County Police are investigating a hit-and-run incident in the Collins Park neighborhood that left a child injured.

Monday night at about 7:47 p.m., officers responded to the 100-block of Delaware Drive to investigate the collision. The child was taken to a hospital, treated and released with no major injuries.

Police obtained surveillance footage which showed that a white pick-up truck, possibly a GMC or Chevrolet with an extended bed, hit the child pedestrian. The driver, a white- or Hispanic male, apparently stopped and got out of the vehicle but got back in and drove away before police or EMS arrived. Although bystanders took down the plate number, it turned out to be ficticious.

A male passenger was also in the pick-up truck at the time.
