ARKANSAS, USA — Families in Northwest Arkansas who are suing four school districts over a new law mandating the Ten Commandments to be displayed in classrooms may extend their case to include a central Arkansas district.
The motion was filed on Friday, Aug. 22, and aims to amend the complaint against Act 573, which has since been blocked to from taking effect until the lawsuit is resolved.
Act 573, which was recently passed in the state legislative session and set to go into effect on Aug. 5, required the Ten Commandments to be hung in a "conspicuous place" in every elementary and secondary public school classroom and library, in large font.
