A 16-year-old boy was arrested on a first-degree murder charge Monday in connection with the stabbing death of another teen in Oakland Park, deputies said.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting a stabbing shortly after 5 p.m. near the 5400 block of Northeast Third Avenue. When deputies and fire rescue arrived, they found Jordan Dowdy, 14, of Oakland Park, with stab wounds, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Tuesday.

Jordan was pronounced dead at a hospital. He and the 16-year-old had been in an argument and physical fight before the stabbing, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The teen, whose name was not released, was arrested later on Monday and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center. Additional information has not been released.
