SAN FRANCISCO—A 30-year-old San Francisco Police Department Academy Recruit, Jon-Marques Psalms, was hospitalized Wednesday, August 20, 2025, after a medical emergency affected him during mandated training. Two days later, on Friday, August 24, 2025, he had died. A procession was held in Psalms’ honor on Monday, August 25, 2025. His family, friends and fellow San Francisco Police Department Academy Recruit Class of 286 is in grieving. He is survived by his parents and brother.

The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) is treating this investigation into this situation as a workplace death.
