In a bid to save a few more pumpkins from a grizzly fate this fall, Sonic is adding Salted Caramel Toffee Iced Coffee and Salted Caramel Croissant Bites to its seasonal lineup.

Pumpkins are getting a break at Sonic this fall.

As part of the fast-food chain's "Save a Pumpkin" PSA, Sonic is introducing a "new flavor duo," they say, to "prove that fall flavors can be just as decadent without putting pumpkins to work."

"Every fall, pumpkins carry the weight of the season," Sonic said in a news release. "They’re carved, spiced and turned into everything from candles to air fresheners – that’s a latte work for a gourd!"

Sonic customers can purchase Salted Caramel Toffee Iced Coffee and/or Salted Caramel Croissant Bites now, exclusively through the Sonic app, or wait until Sept. 1 to make an in-restaurant purchase.

Along with its seasonal offerings, Sonic released its "Save a Pumpkin PSA" featuring influencer couple Alexandra Madison and Jon Bouffard to remind pumpkin fans that "gourds deserve a break from seasonal overtime."

To ensure pumpkins are actually supported outside of the humorous campaign, Sonic is also donating $15,000 to Agricity's "Pumpkins for the People" program, which rescues edible pumpkins for donation, diverts jack-o'-lanterns for composting and raises awareness about food waste.

Here's what to know about Sonic's new seasonal offerings, including how to get them.

How to get Sonic's 'new flavor duo'

Sonic's "new flavor duo," consisting of Salted Caramel Toffee Iced Coffee and Salted Caramel Croissant Bites, is currently available for exclusive purchase through the Sonic app, and will be available for purchase in the restaurant starting Sept. 1.

Take a closer look at Sonic's non-pumpkin-flavored offerings:

  • Salted Caramel Toffee Iced Coffee: Smooth cold brew layered with rich salted caramel and buttery toffee, topped with creamy cold foam and crunchy toffee pieces.
  • Salted Caramel Croissant Bites: Flaky pastries dusted with caramel-toffee sugar.

"Fall flavors don’t have to mean pumpkin spice on repeat," said Barb Williams, vice president of category management at Sonic. "Sonic is stepping in to give pumpkins a much-needed break, all while giving guests something just as craveable."
