ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Rowan County Sheriff's Office is addressing claims that a deputy purposefully struck a suspect with his patrol vehicle, according to a post made by the department on Facebook on Tuesday.
On August 15, a deputy with the Rowan County Sheriff's Office responded to the area of Seventh Street and Whitehead Avenue in Spencer to assist police in locating a person who allegedly caused a disturbance.
The deputy encountered the suspect walking in the middle of the road. Sheriff Travis Allen says the deputy told the suspect to move out of the roadway, and at some point, the individual jumped on the hood of the deputy's patrol vehicle, causing damage to the hood.
The suspect was arrested for causing damage to the patrol vehicle.
