HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Houston police confirm a man has died after crashing his bicycle into a pickup truck in northwest Houston.

It happened at around 10:15 am on Watonga Boulevard near White Oak Bayou.

Police believe the cyclist was 70 years old. He died at the hospital. Police have not identified him yet.

"I thought it was okay. I didn't see anything. He was on the bike," Angel Rutiaga, who was driving the truck, said. "Before I seen him, it was too late. He ran into my truck."

"He entered lane number two and the bicyclist ran into it. Basically, he bounced off of him," Houston Police Department Sgt. Karl Harris explained. "Bicyclists have the same rights as a car on these moving lanes so you really have to be careful."
