Do not send money over the phone, says Sweet Grass County Sheriff's Office

SWEET GRASS COUNTY. Mont. – Multiple scam calls are filtering through the community impersonating law enforcement officers, according to the Sweet Grass County Sheriff’s Office.

Most often, the scam callers have been impersonating Sergeant Seth Brown with the Big Timber Sheriff’s Office and asking the call recipient to call him back and send money for outstanding warrants.

Do not send money to a caller over the phone, said the Sheriff’s office.

“ Please, please don't send any money to any caller over the phone,” they wrote.

They wrote that the Sweet Grass County Sheriff’s Office will never ask for money. Additionally, any valid calls from their office will originate with the local sheriff’s number with a 406 932 area code and a prefix.
