TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -The abandoned Leonard Hospital was a big problem for the City of Troy. Since 2020, all that’s left is an empty sign and a fence beyond the parking lot. But not for much longer.

The City approved a proposal to transform the property. That big problem is being solved by 86 tiny homes. “Here for 55 and older adults; not seniors because I’m 55 and older and we are just so thrilled,” said Mayor Carmella Mantello. “Folks who are empty nesters and looking to find something a little more affordable in a neighborhood. Look at this beautiful lot right here.”

The proposal chosen is for market-rate housing. To rent one, it’ll cost between $1,700 to $2,000.

Anthony Gucciardo of Gucciardo Real Estate Group and Anthony Casale with Gulfstream Developers are working on the property.
