High Valley Transit has announced that on Wednesday evening it will begin preliminary construction activities on its S.R. 224 bus rapid transit project in Summit County.

The work — which begins with lane restriping on S.R 224 near Canyons Resort between Sun Peak Drive and White Pine Canyon Road — will help prepare for the more major portion of the construction, which is slated to begin in spring 2026.

Stacy Witbeck, the general construction contractor for the project, will work according to a tentative schedule:

From Aug. 27-29, crews will do restriping at night, approximately 8 p.m.-6 a.m. During that time, S.R. 224 may be intermittently reduced to one lane in each direction. Traffic may be diverted during the day, but two lanes will be open.
