LOS ANGELES – A woman in her 50s was fatally injured Tuesday when she fell or jumped from a parkway overpass in Highland Park and struck a passing car whose driver was unhurt.

About 10:20 a.m., authorities were alerted to a woman dangling from the Avenue 60 overpass of the Arroyo Seco (110) Parkway, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

She then fell or jumped, hitting a vehicle and was later pronounced dead at the scene, according to LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz, who said the woman was about 55 years old.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured, Lantz said.

All northbound lanes of the parkway were closed between Avenue 52 and Avenue 60 after the incident.

One lane was reopened about 11 a.m., and the rest of the lanes were reopened about 1 p.m., according to the California
