For a certain film freak, the words “regional cinema” immediately conjure up visions of micro-budget film shoots, thick local accents you’d never hear in a Hollywood production and bloody D.I.Y. ingenuity. Between the twin coastal poles of Hollywood cinema and NYC experimental/repertory film scenes, there lies a wild and woolly world of regional film scenes where “amateurs” and outsiders make SOV (shot on video) and shoestring films with whoever and whatever they have on hand.
