Carbon County, Wyo. - The Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) is emphasizing the importance of yielding to emergency vehicles following a crash involving a WHP patrol vehicle and a semi-truck on I-80.

The incident occurred at 11:38 a.m. on August 26 in Carbon County, when a trooper, responding to another crash, attempted to turn into the median and was struck by a westbound semi-truck, WHP said in a release .

The trooper was not seriously injured but was taken to Rawlins Hospital for evaluation and later released. The semi-truck driver was unharmed, and no citations were issued, WHP said.

WHP is reminding everyone that failure to yield to emergency vehicles can result in delays, potentially threatening lives, and may lead to fines of at least $235.
