Officials at two Santa Fe-based nonprofit organizations have announced they will merge their investigative journalism efforts, a move they say will lead to greater statewide impact and sustainability.
The agreement will bring together Searchlight New Mexico and The New Mexican Public Service Journalism Fund. The former is an independent, investigative news nonprofit founded in 2017, while the latter is a fiscally sponsored journalism fund of the New Mexico Foundation, which has operated for 42 years, taking a progressive, grassroots approach to building stronger communities.
The Public Service Journalism Fund was launched in December as a philanthropic initiative of The Santa Fe New Mexican with the goal of expanding fact-based, high-impact reporting on critical topics, said Patrick Do
