FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The University of Arkansas Police Department Assistant Chief Matt Mills explains the school's RazAlert system and its use during emergencies like the calls of an active shooter on campus law enforcement received, which is now believed to be a hoax.

The University of Arkansas' RazALERT system is an emergency notification system for the school that sends out mass notifications for emergencies like the shooting response on Aug. 25 or when there is severe weather on the way.

Mills says even if you don't receive the initial alert, the hope is you hear about it through word of mouth.
